Hi, a couple of days ago I made an inquiry for help. Apparently, not to manyI've been following your posts and the responses. Unfortunately, as you
people are facing the problem I am.
The problem is with the syntaxis of the getpivotdata in excel for windows
and excel for mac. In excel for mac it lacks arguments and thus, whenever I
opened the file that was created in windows, I get an error.
I have sent microsoft a petition to make the formulas the same. So, that
users in windows are not left out and vice versa.
Apparently, microsoft doesn't seem to agree with this, and pretends to keep
a gap between Mac and Windows. That's understood. But, then again make fair
competition !!!
I am terribly disturbed by the fact that I cannot open correctly the file in
my Mac because I get errors all over the place. To solve this issue, I only
see three viable solutions are :
A) Get a Windows PC
B) Get a new Mac with the Intel Processor and run parallel
C) Re-program all my spreadhseet ( over 30,000 cells )
It's funny, and I am really upset about this.
Again, if anyone wants to help me. Please lets send a petition to the
Microsoft Business Unit for Mac.
Thanks to all,
A very unsatisfied Microsoft Client
discovered, this works differently on Macs and Windows. Another way to
express you concern is to use Send Feedback on the Help menu. I, and many
others here like J.E., make our livings by preparing Excel applications that
work on both Macintosh and windows platforms. In order to do this reliably,
we use the "lowest common denominator" of features. Therefore, for the
foreseeable future, your only viable solution is option C, recode the
application. You should, of course, express your disappointment and requests
via any of the avenues, discussed, but do not "hold your breath" expecting a
solution.
