Re: Error in loading DLL

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Francis -- when you reinitialised and loaded everything from scratch do you
mean you actually reformatted the machine? ...
If not, you still may not have a 'clean' install here. The best thing that
I could suggest on your machine where vb is not working is to be sure
you have a 'clean' install of office. I'll give the steps here.

1. Run remove office -- which can be found in the "Additional Tools" folder
of your Office 2004 cd
2. When you have completed running the 'remove office' utility in the
finder choose - Go Home, then choose the "Library" folder, then the
Preferences Folder - then delete the "Microsoft" folder
3. In the finder once again go to your home folder, then inside the
Documents folder - delete the "Microsoft User Data" folder -- this process
will completely clean up and out your old installation of office.
4. Now reinstall using the CD and you *should* have a clean install of
Office which behaves VB and all.

Good luck Francis, and let us know if things improve.

Following a problem with my G4 I reinitialised it and loaded OS 10.3.9 and
Office 2004 and everything else from scratch

An important 10 sheet 892KB XL file, which I have built up over many
years,
has many macros and has crossed from Mac to Pc and back again with no
problem

It still does between iBook (OS 10.3.9) and XL v, X (Microsoft Excel for
Mac
Service Release 2)

Now on the G4 this, and other XL files will not run, showing the message
'Error in loading DLL'. Nor can I write a macro in a blank sheet Unable
to
record¹ although I have checked VB is installed

Trying to open the Visual Basic Editor results in OCan¹t load Visual Basic
for Applications¹

Word is similar OThe macro could not be created¹ and OCould not open
macro
storage¹

Disastrous! Please help

Francis Hookham
