Well, no. Unfortunately, MS only implemented this in Office 2004. Other
versions didn't update the version numbers in "About" with any
regularity.

I don't know of any similar compilations of Office 98 or 2001. Their
base versions are 8 and 9, respectively, but there are a number of
variations depending on which updater(s) have been applied.
