so I have read all the comments and as mentioned, I cannot do anything to
change the format of my .pst file as I no longer have the windows based pc or
outlook. Outlook for mac is free ( i found a free download yesterday) but is
it does not work (error message ; no longer supported)I have tried the
import.pst tool and it does not recognise my .pst file regardless of if it is
saved on my mac or an external harddrive, i cannot use the referred to
littlemachines product as that uses a windows pc and I dont have one.
Outlook for Mac was created a long time ago (the latest version dates back
to 2001, if I'm not mistaken), and the PST file format has evolved ever
since. Furthermore, Outlook for Mac only runs in pre-Mac OS X versions of
the Mac operating system, so you'll have to use an older Mac running Mac OS
9 or the Classic environment, and you need to be connected to an Exchange
environment. The PST importer tool only works for PST files created with
Outlook for Mac; PST files created with Outlook are not supported.
so, again, thanks for the suggestions on there but they don't work! i have
only one mac and am not in a position to downgrade then upgrade and mess
around with operating systems etc etc.
I have a windows saved .pst archive file from MS outlook 2003. I want to
import the data (addresses, mails and attachments) into my mac mail entourage.
The are 2 MS created applications both of which use .pst files for archiving,
why are they not compatible?
Entourage does not use PST, and in fact, no application other than Outlook
uses it. I'm afraid you can't use your PST file unless you manage to find a
PC running Outlook; you can then use Little Machines' O2M application to
export your archive into file formats that can be read by Entourage.
Make sure to leave your feedback with Microsoft (click on Help>Send Feedback
about Entourage); the more users complain about the lack of PST import, the
more likely it is that they are going to listen.
