Thanks for the quick response. Like the other user, I¹m not having any
(visible) problems, so before trying these solutions, here are two Console
log messages.
The function `CGPDFDocumentGetMediaBox' is obsolete and will be removed in an
upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is
using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall
degradation of system performance. Please use `CGPDFPageGetBoxRect' instead.
Warning: accessing obsolete X509Anchors.
Do either or both of these suggest anything less drastic?

MERP is Microsoft Error Reporting Program. It appears it's crashing and
saving the log in the trash. If you check the Console logs you might be able
to get a clue as to why it's crashing.
This is odd and having two people report it at the same time makes it even
stranger.
1) Let's try the Apple combo to see if that fixes the problem. Doing so
overwrites potentially problem-causing files. Combo updaters will install on
the same version as they¹re applying?no need to roll back or do a clean
install.
Leopard:
Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update
(For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )
<http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056combou
pdate.html>
2) If that does not solve the issue, follow these steps to reinstall:
* Launch the Microsoft Autoupdater (MAU).To launch MAU, you can open any
Office application and select "Check for Updates" under Help in the Menu
bar. Once MAU is launched, select "Keep in Dock"
* Quit all Microsoft applications (Easy way: log out/in with Shift key down
to disable any startup items.) Be sure all applications are quit before
running updater. IMPORTANT
* Drag the Microsoft Office 2008 folder to the Trash.
* Empty Trash.
* Reinstall Office 2008 from your original installation disk.
* Restart
* Update to 12.1.0 (if you have a newer DVD you might only need the 12.1.5)
* Restart (restarting before you launch any app is important!)
* Update to 12.1.5
* Restart
Let me know if the combo fixes the problem or if you had to do a reinstall.
