Re: Problem with Entourage 2004 - Entourage constantly crashes

Entourage Problems
Couldn't solve my Entourage 2004 and Leopard problem (crashing). Spent 2 hrs at genius bar (they were helpful).... hard drive is fine..... Went ahead and installed Office 2008..... still can't get Entourage to allow send/receive.

At this point I only have 1 email "Welcome to Entourage 2008" (8/5/08)
Old emails stored under Microsoft user data (for future merge -couldn't get it to work while installing office 2008).

Really needs emails for kids / school ASAP
POP server mail.yahoo.com SMTP server SMTP.yahoo.com

Yahoo now uses secure connections. Have you changed your POP settings to match what Yahoo suggests? Also, I think your settings are wrong. Try these:

Incoming: pop.mail.yahoo.com. Enter your user name and password.
Make sure to also in the advanced settings to turn ON SSL, and make sure the port is set to 995 (the standard for SSL)

Outgoing: smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Enter your user name and password. Make sure that SSL is on and the port is set to its default of 465.

Lastly, while I have updated to Office 2008, I DO NOT use the 2008 Entourage, but rather continue to use the 2004 version. It is MUCH more stable (especially on Intel machines) and much much faster.

Hope this helps.
