Re: Out of office auto reply

It's that initial auto reply they are not receiving. As far as the exchange
server we are using...I'm not sure. I receive all the OOF messages from our
PC users as well as email's from outside the network, so I'm pretty
confident that it's not set up for just people from our address book. It's
not working the other way (from MAC to PC users)...that leaves me to believe
it's a setting on my end.

Emails from outside the network are not complaining they never received the
notification I was out of office. In some cases they were upset for the lack
of response on my end since I was unable to retrieve emails during my
vacation. I also tested this after I got back from My PC at home (emailed
myself at work) and did not get the OOF reply message.

How can I troubleshoot this?

Our company is set up on an exchange server. The PC users all have outlook
and the MAC users all have Entourage. The newer Entourage mac2008 has the
ability to use an out of office auto reply notification (which was sorely
needed). Although our PC based users did not get the notification when
sending me an email after I selected the send out of office messages.

to be honest, I'm not sure why it isn't working for you, it's a function
I use fairly frequently and never had any complaints about it not
working before. However, it is difficult for a user to complain of not
receiving something unless they were definitely expecting it. I will
carry out some trials...

It seems to work OK here.

Bear in mind a couple of points...

during any one period, only ONE response will be sent to any sender of
an email (this is to prevent mail loops on mailing lists or if you
respond to someone else who has a responder set). If you've already
responded once, they won't get another response for the rest of the
period.

If you have exchange server 2007 there are some extra options in the OOF
settings box to only send mail to people in your address book - could
this be the cause?
