Hello
I posted this question to the board, but so far have not received any
response. As I am in a panic,
I am asking you directly.
My Entourage 'custom views' seems to be damaged. I use this feature
all of the time to manage my large international address book and use
it to divide my customers by country.
I cannot open my custom views (i.e. I click on "Argentina" and get
nothing)
No amount of rebuilding seems to work.
I get a message that my database is damaged with the following detailed
report. I have no idea what any of this means, but hopefully someone
out there can diagnose the problem from this info...
Do you have any idea how I can fix it?
With very many thanks in advance.
Elisena
Hi Elisena,
The symptoms you describe do look as though they are caused by a corrupt
database. If the rebuild routine is not putting things right then you
probably need to start a new identity - select 'switch identity' from the
Entourage menu, then choose 'new'. You will have to set up the mail
accounts, folder structure etc all over again, and it is a huge pain,
especially if you have a lot of stuff in there.
The current data can probably be recovered - try the built in 'export'
routine first (from the old identity). It will probably fail if the database
is significantly damaged, but it is possible that by selecting just
contacts, just events etc, much of the data can be recovered piece meal. Any
stuff that can't be exported can be dragged to the desktop to form exported
data (drag whole mail folders, not individual messages).
Believe me, this is a lot of trouble - last time I had to do this it took me
the best part of a weekend to get all my stuff into a new identity, but I do
have a lot of mail accounts, folder, rules etc that needed setting up again.
