iCal hands after enabling Entourage sync services

I just turned on SyncServices for iCal and address book. I initially
opted to merge SyncServices and Entourage items (I've since tried all
other options without success).

Address book sync seems to work fine. iCal sync is very broken.

Whenever I launch iCal, it only runs for a few minutes and then locks
up and needs to be terminated. Every time I run it, there are one or
two new empty calendars - without a name. There is no Entourage clendar
and no entries from Entourage in iCal or vice-versa.

I've tried reverting to an iCal backup before i syated sync and
deleting iCal's plist file. Neither helps.

I'd appreciate any help on how to fix iCal or even better, get Sync
working.
