Delay with large mailboxes and Exchange 2003

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

We have several Entourage 2004 (11.2.1) users accessing their Exchange 2003
account here who quite often get a spinning beach ball for 90 seconds or so
upon their starting to do something (typically write a new message). If
they wait it out everything seems to work fine for a while. If they then
turn away and come back to Entourage a few minutes later, they have to wait
again. Obviously, this is very annoying to them and frustrating for us
because we can't figure out what is wrong.

We have other users who don't have this problem, and the only difference it
seems is that the users with the problem have a larger mailbox (100-150 MB)
compared to the users without a problem (<50 MB). Has anyone else seen this
problem, or does anyone have any suggestions?
