incoming mail font too big

Some mail coming in arrives in way too big format. The mail is always a
pre formatted email ( ie retail, ebay and banks) I am at a loss as to
how to fix. None of the preference options work or trying to 'decrease
size'in EDIT options. It just started happening in the last few weeks.
