Outlook 2001 uses MAPI, the same way the PCs access the data.

Is IMAP support enabled on the server ?? Any authentication through SSL
for instance ??

Try to set it up manually. The assistant never ever worked for me
either. BTW, free/busy settings will only affect synchronization of the
calendar and address book to the server - not the e-mail themselves.
