Error -8796 on a variety of actions

Entourage has gone bonkers, giving this error when you click into the
"To:" field, click toolbar buttons, etc. It's also stopped showing two
identities in the Switch Identities window.

We backed up the User Data folder to a CD, then did typical and
advanced rebuilds on the database, removed (using the uninstaller
program) and reinstalled Office. Word's started crashing now.

What can we do? Thanks.
