IE5 and Hotmail

All of a sudden it became impossible to access Hotmail using IE5 for
Macintosh OS X. I can access the sign-in page on www.hotmail.com, but
when I sign in to my account I get a blank screen.

This problem started about the same time Microsoft apparently
introduced a "security patch" on the Hotmail servers on April 1, 2007,
which had the side effect of making it impossible for Entourage to
send emails through Hotmail.

Microsoft has no plans to fix the Hotmail security patch, or to
provide support for Entourage users, as a newer version is available.

Does anyone know why I can't access my Hotmail account using Macintosh
IE5?
