Another PEAP Authentication problem

I'm having a serious problem trying to get machine authentication to
work with my laptops. It does not appear as if my clients are
attempting machine authentication. I've looked everywhere for a
solution with no luck. I've had my computers in the wireless access
group for the remote access policy. I don't even get a windows 2003
server event log message that the machines are trying to connect. My
access point does log that the machines are trying to do something, but
the same message repeats over and over again "802.1X authentication
failed (timeout)." (This happens when the machines are sitting at the
windows logon prompt.) I'm completely at a loss. Is it possible that
the AP is not sending the request to the IAS Server?
I've tried everything from setting the registry authmode (to 1 and 2)
to making sure the wireless nic was starting at boot time. I have no
idea why my wireless clients will not use machine authentication. Am I
missing someting in the remote access policy? I have the default "Use
windows authentication" and setup the access policy per MS
instructions. User auth. works fine, but without machine auth my login
scripts will not work, among other things.
I have a WirelessAccess group with a wireless users and a wireless
computers group inside of it. I can remove the wireless computers with
no effect on authentication. It always uses user auth.
I feel like I've tried everything but nothing is working for me. Any
help would be greatly appreciated. I'm using a netgear WG102 as my AP
and the netgear WG511T pcmcia cards on the client laptops.
I hope I've given enough info...
Thanks in Advance,
Dustin
