My mom was having trouble with OE and asked me to take a look...
She is running OS 9.0.4 on an old iMac G3. I found multiple copies of OE on
her machine (5.0.2 and 5.0.6). Also found multiple Identity Folders and
databases. She has only one user set-up. (I have deleted all but the
current OE version.)
The dilemma is that most of her recent activity, including her most current
address book is contained in "Identity #1". Sometime in the last month, an
older Identity took over ("Identity #2"), so the last few weeks of mail are
now in this Identity, which is active and behaving properly.
I have tried in vain to get Identity #1 back as the primary Identity, with
no luck. I have also tried to Import data from Identity #1 into #2 so all
the data is together. When I do this, the Import screens walk me through
until the final step, and then no import occurs.
I moved to OS X and Entourage a couple years ago, and can't recall how to
manage OE identities. Any help is appreciated!
I would suggest that you manually export the messages you want to keep from
one of the Identities via method 1 here...

...and then manually import those into the other Identity.

Thanks. I will try that. HOWEVER, in my previous post, I noted: "I have
tried in vain to get Identity #1 back as the primary Identity, with no
luck."
I can't recall the specific messages I rec'd, but OE did not seem to want to
recognize this Identity. If it won't be recognized, and I can't import from
it, does that suggest corruption? I don't think holding down the Option key
to commence rebuild or compact worked either.
Any other ideas? Thank you!
