This is probably a memory issue. Navigate to the OE application in the
Finder, select it (click once), and do a Get Info (Cmd-i). Raise the
Preferred memory to 15,000 KB. Leave the Minimum memory alone. Does that
help?
The other thing I need help with is how I can get a return receipt from
an e-mail I send? I did read somthing about creating a new account
just for a return reciept, but I didn't understand how that would work
since my one account is Comcast and all ID's are under it.

But read the "Note": Even if you add a return receipt to your emails, you
may not get one.
