password problem

When I try to setup an (existing) Hotmailaccount in OE 5 Mac I get an
announcement that from now on a password has to have at least 16 (or
something) characters.
Hotmail does not know about this.
In OE 5 for Windows the problem does not occur.
Anyone know about this problem?
