Kenny F,
I appreciate your bluntness. Actually, in my original posting to the
Apple Discussion Group, I said I AM AN IDIOT. I removed that in this
posting, but clearly it was warranted.

That said, I would venture to guess that 90 percent of Mac users also
have no understanding of the OS. And among Windows users, that is
probably 98 percent. I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

In my own defense, I must point out that within the past
month-and-a-half, my Alzheimer's-stricken father was hospitalized and
died of a heart attack; my mother subsequently fell and broke her hip,
had hip-replacement surgery and had to be placed in rehab; and I was
attempting to make the arrangements for all of this and take over
their finances while my family left on a vacation of which I was
supposed to be part, and on which I was desperately trying to join
them -- when the iMac went haywire. So I was not entirely paying
attention to what I was doing in a rush to get it running again before
I left.

Not that you needed to know this, but it does make my stupidity a bit
more presentable.

Thanks,
Jeff

p.s. I know I need more memory, but if I can ask one more question: Do
you really think it's worth upgrading the memory on this machine? Or
should I be looking at a new eMac?
