I am building a visual basic application that uses Netmeeting SDK.
INM allows you to share the Remote Desktop by:
1. Tools menu-> remote desktop sharing
2. Tools menu -> Sharing (Ctrl+S) -> desktop (Share)
In my opinion the second option works better. If you have a static IP
address then you can easily control your computer over the internet
(I've done it) I had the server running here in Adelaide and controlled
it from Italy. Works decently well, you just need windows 95.
My experience is that you usually don't need to open any firewall port
if you just use the remote desktop thing.
I tell you this from my experience, I sucessfully established a
netmeeting call from a firewalled pc, I however, could only get my
remote desktop and not video and audio.

Re: NetMeeting Basics ... The only value in the dropdown is "Microsoft Internet Directory" but I don't know how to put myself or my friend in that directory. ... From other posts on this newsgroup, I gather that I must be running XP Pro or some of the versions of Vista to use Remote Desktop.... Forgive my confusion but I have not seen these questions answered in any documentation I've seen for NetMeeting....
