I have a Sonicwall 1260Pro firewall set up, and we have been
successfully using Sonicwall's Global VPN Client up until recently.
Now a notebook computer off site can access a workstation onsite
(using NetMeeting) by connecting to the Internet using Dial-up
networking and coming in through the VPN.
However, if they have a wired network connection to the Internet, or
a wireless connection, they can get through our firewall via the VPN,
but not connect to the workstation. They just get the message that
the other computer can't accept a NetMeeting call.
What should I be looking for?
I am guessing this is something in your Network/VPN setup -- unrelated
to NetMeeting. Likely whatever address you are using the access the
workstation is invalid or the workstation is just not accessible via
that network path.
I am not sure what "coming in through the VPN" means in the case of
dial up -- is this using a standard dial up ISP?
Yes I meant using a standard dial up ISP. That works, but using any
motel's wireless or wired connection does not allow us to connect - even
though I can see that they have successfully created a VPN tunnel.
I don't know -- as I said it is unlikely to be a NetMeeting issue -- can
you connect directly to other stations/servers on the network (using
something other than NetMeeting)?
Perhaps asking on a network related(or vpn specific?) forum might get more
information.
