Re: command line netmeeting connection?

brian,

you are correct, when i re-entered it in the 'run' line (i had tried it from
the dos prompt) it worked fine.

followup to your initial fine work.

do you know how to have it automatically setup the issuing caller in desktop
share, and cede control, at the same time?

thanks.

jim

we do remote support for some customers via a vpn connection over the

it is somewhat slow. we could use remote to grab the user but need to
'show' things sometimes.

altho having the other user setup netmeeting isnt impossible it would be
handy to have an icon 'call support' which would

pseudocode conf 192.168.199.10 (example ip address)

and popup a request to us directly if we had netmeeting running
minimized.

i read 'http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q167097'
which is titled 'How to Start NetMeeting Conference from a Command Line'
and
it says

rundll32.exe msconf.dll,CallToProtocolHandler
server/email@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

that this would work.

further reading implies the email info is there to supply an address to
that
connection, and to use an ILS except if you are on a network where users
can
be addressed by ip.

we can address each other via ip thru the tunnel.

i tried rundll32.exe msconf.dll,CallToProtocolHandler
192.168.199.10

but that just gave me an error.

What error? This works for me. It does pop up a request box saying
"192.168.x.x is asking to join" that must be answered by clicking "OK"
though.

This assumes the target end is running NetMeeting expecting a normal call.

im not sure what is involved to setup with an ILS and see no need for it
if
in fact there is a way to somehow do it without one.

I don't think the lack of ILS is your problem so even though you could
probably setup an ILS without much effort (assuming you have Win2000
servers), I don't think it will help.
