Speakers are working

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I have a laptop and to increase the sound output I purchased some extra
speakers. Using itunes and the computer the speakers work perfectly.
However when I use Internet Explorer 6.0 the sound only comes through
the laptop integral speakers not the external ones can anyone help?
