No-- my suggestion was assuming that the call was connected.
I haven't heard of any others with similar symptoms so maybe I am not
understanding what you are seeing. For clarification this is what I
understand:
1) both the dial up and dsl client are connected to the internet in a
"normal" fashion and all other internet operations are normal
Yes.both connect to the internet and both are able to surf, receive email,
etc.
2) one end's IP address is determined ( using help about in NetMeeting?)
I use net-meeting to determine the address of both computers. I also double
checked this by running "ip-config" test.
3) the other places a call to the the determined IP address
No.I just input the IP address and it places the call. As a further test, I
also tried to set one machine to "automatically receive." SAME RESULTS.
4) the called end receives the normal incoming call message, answers ( and
sees both ends in the list of callers?)
It sees the caller (me on the other end from a lap top (or vice versa). I
hit "accept call" and it does.but the other computer ways "waiting for
response." When I hit accept call..the phone stops ringing and I see the
callers name (other machine). At the bottom of the netmeeting box I see "in
a call"
5) the calling end sees nothing, the "waiting for a response" message times
out and eventually displays "the person you are calling is not able to
accept NetMemeting calls"?
No, it eventually times out and continues to stay online. If I use the chat
feature.the sending computer says that "chat is not active" at the bottom of
the screne.
6) this happens calling either way
Yes. No matter which way I send or receive.
Is this what you see ?
I also tried doing a test online with another user on NetmeetingHQ. She
tried connecting to me, I answered the call.but she never received a message
that I had picked up.
PS. I did notice that when I see the IP address in netmeeting, it has two
numbers. The WAN is listed 1rst, followed by a coma, then the LAN IP address
is listed Next. I this result in both machines.
Thanks very much for all your input Brian
