    Generally computer names will work -- as long as your network is setup so
    that there is a name service somewhere that resolves the name to an IP
    address.

    What are the computer names that are at issue?( the "full name" is what you
    are using -- not the "description"?)/ At one time I think it was possible to
    use characters in the computer name that caused names not to resolve
    correctly ( but I don't think that is possible on XP though)
