I believe Outlook requires TLS rather than SSL. Give that a try.
If still no go, try the same settings in Outlook Express for testing
purposes. OE tends to give more definitive error messages than Outlook.

I have configured the pop3 SSL 995, smtp SSL 587 with authentication etc.
The mail sending works ok via port 587. I have a similar email account
configured for another service provider and this works succesfully, so I
guess that rules out firewall and antivirus restrictions.

Can anyone advise what the issue could be?
