It sounds like your friends are trying to send their emails to an
incorrect
address. Your email address should be name@xxxxxxxxxxx but they may be
sending emails to a name@xxxxxxx address.

But let's check something: Go to www.hotmail.com and sign-in. Then click
on
Options (top, right) and then Other Options. Scroll down & click on
"Reply-to address" which should take you to this page:
http://by124w.bay124.mail.live.com/default.aspx?n=1803647259

Make sure that the "Current email address name@xxxxxxxxxxx" option is
selected then click on the SAVE button.

Now test by sending yourself an email then see if you can reply to your
message without getting the "Aim account not activated" message. If you
can, the problem's not on your end.

ty i have followed instructions and problem is not my end.still don't know
what an aim account is? is it AOL? THANK YOU FOR OUR ADVICE

An AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) account is a free email account that's
similar to but not the same as a free Hotmail account; see

Do you use AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)? Do you chat with these friends
using AIM?

NO I DON'T HAVE AN AOL ACCOUNT OR USE AOL MESSINGER.MY MUM HAS AOL AND
CAN'T EMAIL ME.SON IS IN NAVY BUT NOT SURE WHAT SERVER MOD USE/WILL ASK

Sounds like Mum may not have your correct email address. Send her an email and see if she can reply to it without getting that notification. If she can, she needs to change your email address in her AOL Address Book to your name@xxxxxxxxxxx account.
