She was able to send to this account a week or two ago without any problems
and I am able to send mail to this netzero account from my hotmail account
without any problems as well - any suggestions?!?!?
No suggestions, only an observation. Comcast, Embarq, and MSN all kicked
email back to my mother. My outbound email server is, 'mail.pacbell.net',
but when I had her resend one of the rejected email messages, it did not
come back. And email I sent to my 'msn.com' account went through just fine.
I finally narrowed it down to just two, of I don't know how many, ATTIS
relay agents:
nlpi015.prodigy.net
nlpi029.prodigy.net
Email through, 'nlpi001.prodigy.net', and 'nlpi043.prodigy.net' is not
blocked.
In your case, you will probably find that your email, which made it, went
out through a different server than, 'bay0-omc2-s2.bay0.hotmail.com'.
What happens is that some spam gets through one of the many SMTP relay
agents run by providers, such as AT&T, or MSN, and the servers which handled
that spam are blocked by other providers. All that you can do is contact the
postmaster for the blocked domain, and tell them which server is blocked (it
is the one identified in your NDR as the "reporting MTA", and which service
is doing the blocking. It will be up to the postmaster for MSN to deal with
the postmaster for NetZero, and sort out the problem.
You need to remember to give them the specific server which is blocked;
otherwise, they don't have any data to use when they request a block removal
from the blocking domain. Servers are, normally, blocked by IP address, not
domain, so not having the specific blocked server is no help to the
administrators.
