I post at the top of a reply (as you see), not the bottom. I
read hundreds of posts a day and I find having to scroll down to the botom
of a message to see the reply text to be a huge waste of time.
Which also means you are too lazy to properly snip the quoted content.
You spew out the same whole posts rather than just show the content that
is related to your post. Even if you top-post, you should still be
snipping the quoted post to provide reasonable track of the conversation
that applies to your reply. You top-post so no one has to wade through
all the quoted content that you did not trim down that was relevant to
tracking the discussion. So why even quote the original post(s) if your
intent is that the users doesn't have the read the mess that you
included?
It is not about what is convenient to you. It is about being polite to
the community of which you want to be a part. Yes, I bottom-post but I
don't really care if someone top-posts. What is the real nuisance are
the LAZY respondents that don't snip.
Notice that I snipped your quoted content so only what was relevant to
my reply was included. Since it became a sub-topic, there was no need
to include anything of the originating post of the thread. I also snip
out irrelevant text or fluff from the attribution lines so it gets
easier to see who said what instead of wasting space on their cutsy
fluff or credentials which are unimportant. I also snip off the
signatures since the vast majority of them are ego-stroking fluff that
is unrelated to the topic.
Learn to snip. It is more important and polite than whether you top- or
bottom-post.
