Re: New tabs or windows option in Live Hotmail Classic

Any updates?

The ability to open several emails in new tabs at once was one of the last
good reasons to use Hotmail Live Classic, and the main reason not to change
to the Full version (or to fully move to other web based email systems).

Not been able to "Open New Tabs" in the full version makes Hotmail Live a
copy of gmail (an expensive copy)...

Is there a way to do it via some pluggin in FF3? Is it appropriate to ask
this here?

Someone, please fix the Classic version... I am grieving the old Hotmail...

Judging from the quote, it looks to be /unintentional/ (i.e., a bug) and
/due to/ recent updates (i.e., changes) made on the server farm(s).

As I posted last week, they recently changed Hotmail so that the links to
open messages are no longer HTTP URLs. The links are now Javascript code
that loads the text of the message into the current web page. This breaks
tabbed browsing.

I have no idea why they did this. It's not any faster than loading the
message in a fresh web page (hence the "working on your request" message).
The whole point of the Classic Hotmail interface was to keep the old style of
browsing around, for people who didn't want to deal with all the messy
Javascript in the new-style Live interface that loads new content into the
existing page.

I've submitted complaints to Hotmail through all the channels I know about,
and have not received a response. Does anyone know a way of reporting bugs
and UI complaints that actually reaches someone competent?
