The go directly to Inbox has no bearing on downloading messages. It
just says that the Inbox should be shown when OE opens.
The setting you want is Tools, Options, General, Send and Receive
Messages at start up.
You don't say what kind of account you are dealing with. Hotmail works
differently than POP3.

Outlook Express-Tools-options. When starting go directly to inbox is
checked. I believe this causes Emails to download automatically but
does nor open the Emails, which is what I want..
Windows Live mail has no such option. I either have to click on
receive all which downloads and opens all messages or set check for
message every x minutes which downloads the headers but does not open
the Emails..
Is there a way to have live mail act like outlook express?????
