This seems to be an old bugaboo resurfacing. Try this.

In your IE browser select Tool/Programs tab and place a
checkmark in the "Internet Explorer should check to see
if it is the default browser".

Shut down & restart your browser and see if the links are
now working.

I might not have this exactly right, but working with
that selection used to fix this problem, at least in
Outlook Express.
