We were supposed to deduce this from your post?

I just ignore the "me too" hijack attempt threads. If they want to know
what the OP discovered for a solution to their claimed same problem,
they can just mark the thread to watch it. Those using a webnews
interface, like Microsoft's CDO interface, well, they deserve what they
use which is minimal and nothing like using a more feature rich NNTP
client (dummies use a dummy interface). If they are using a dummy
webnews interface then they won't be able to track the thread, anyway,
so the "me too" reply is just a nuisance post. If their problem is
similar, let them search or track similar posts regarding their problem.
If their problem is similar but enough different that they feel
compelled to add more description to differentiate their
dissimilartities then they shouldn't post a "me too" post but instead
open their own new thread. As with any human communication, side topics
will popup so you might have subthreads that branch off on a topic
spurred by the original thread, but that's not the same as a "me too"
hijack post. Misery loves company so some folks will try to slide in
with their problem instead of starting their own thread to post their
"same but not the same" problem (since they won't bother to take the
time to search and watch). Regardless of the many "me too" hijack
posts, they seem to pale compared to the folks that are too lazy to ever
check if their problem has already been repeatedly asked (and answered).
After all, how many times a day do you see yet another post or several
of them (here or in the OE newsgroup) asking about blocked access to
attachments in OE? Lots.

Regarding the trailing "x" now on my moniker, I started using "Vanguard"
but found another user using that moniker before me and didn't want to
step on his/her toes. So I used "*Vanguard*" but found that search
engines looking in newsgroup posts, like Google Groups, would ignore
non-alphabetic characters during searchs and there could be a problem
where non-alphabetic characters might get misunderstood to be wildcard
or special-use characters. So I searched Google Groups on "Vanguardx"
(which fits into the simple alphanumeric character set that Google
Groups should be able to search on without ignoring any characters),
found no one using that moniker (within Google's history), and decided
to use that one. I figure Vanguardx is close enough to Vanguard so as
to not lose any identity earned heretofore amongst repeat participants.
