I had a similar problem that was traced partially to a
problem with the internet service provider. A technician
installed a signal splitter on the line to the computer
room. In addition I removed smartsweep and internet sweep
from Norton Internet Security, i.e., I don't have those
two programs running in the background. I purged my
cache, too. Now, I can access most if not all websites
without a problem. I did notice, however, that at certain
times of the day internet access is really slow. I hope
this helps.
