1) Some spam contains images keyed your e-mail address that get loaded from the spammer's
web site. If the image gets loaded, they know that you viewed the message. But most
spammers don't do that because it's too much bother.
You have several ways to avoid that, depending on your version of OE.
- If you have OE6 with SP1, you can use Tools, Options, Read, Read All Messages in Plain
Text
- With any version of OE, you can select File, Work Offline before viewing any messages.
Note IE and OE share the Work Offline setting, so changing in one changes the other
- If you are using a dial-up connection with any version of OE, hang up the connection
before viewing your mail.
2) With much spam, the From address is faked and constantly changing.
