Intranet settings

Each time I get on the internet, the following warning pops up "Intranet
settings are turned off by default. Intranet settings are less secure than
internet settings. Click here for options..." I access IE7 from my home and
do not have any use for intranet settings on my PC. Can someone please tell
me why I get this warning banner?
