Open In Same Window

I have been vexed with finding a solution to my simple problem. When I
click on a link from outlook (in an email for example), I'd like IE6
not to open a new window, but reuse the currently open window. I have
searched and checked all of the appropriate boxes (reuse window, open
in same window), but outlook still starts a new IE window with each
click (it keeps going and going...). Same is true if I click links in
my RSS reader (multiple IE windows).

Any solutions to this? It's not horrible but it clutters up my
desktop.
