Problems with Internet Explorer 7.0

I am running Firefox 2.0 on Windows XP Modem edition with SP 2 using a
Linksys wireless router on a cable modem and have no problems accessing any
site. I just upgraded to IE 7.0 but cannot get access to any site. I get
an error message that there is a connection problem. When I run the
connection diagnostics I get the following:
Network adapter status
info Network connection status: Connected
HTTP, HTTPS, FTP Diagnostic
HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity
warn FTP (Passive): Error 12029 connecting to ftp.Microsoft.com:
A connection with the server could not be established
warn FTP (Active): Error 12029 connecting to ftp.Microsoft.com:
A connection with the server could not be established
warn HTTP: Error 12029 connecting to www.Microsoft.com: A
connection with the server could not be established
warn HTTP: Error 12029 connecting to www.hotmail.com: A
connection with the server could not be established
warn HTTPS: Error 12029 connecting to www.passport.net: A
connection with the server could not be established
info HTTPS: Successfully connected to www.Microsoft.com.
error Could not make an HTTP connection.
error Could not make an FTP connection.
It appears that there is something in IE 7.0 that will not allow a
connection to the internet. I tried going back to IE 6 but I cannot do that
because a newer version (IE 7.0) is detected. Any ideas on how to resolve
the connection problem.
