Using Index Services with clustered servers and file share
Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance
Hello-
My environment consists of several Windows 2003 servers. I have 2 IIS
servers set up with a load-balancer. I also have 2 file servers that
are clustered, with the data residing on a SAN.
The web site content is located on the SAN, and IIS is set up (on both
IIS servers) to point to this content via a UNC share. All of this
works fine.
My question is: How can I set up Indexing Services to index this data
on the remote share?
First I tried creating a catalog pointing directly to the UNC share.
This yields the message: "Catalog Could Not Be Created! - Catalog
name or location is already in use or invalid"
My second attempt involved creating a catalog on a local (empty)
directory. Then, I added the UNC location as a "directory" in the
catalog. It adds the directory successfully, but does not index the
content, even if I specify a full rescan.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Steve
