Thanks for your reply. Hope you can help.

The remote machine is a win2000 server (not a domain controller) on the
domain. The connect as account is a domain user with full permissions on the
specified folder.

While I would like to solve this problem, I'm thinking that another approach
might be to turn on the indexing service on the remote server and connect to
the catalog generated there. Is that easier, better, or would it have
performance hits on that server. It is only being used as a file/print
server with not really heavy loads.

Another question: I've downloaded and run the install program from adobe to
add their pdf filter to the indexing service, would this have any effect on
any of this? And just to make sure, where would I look to see that the pdf
filter is actually installed.
