Hello,
I have a website under a certain path on drive C.
In the MMC I created a new catalog. In Properties -> Tracking -> WWW Server
of my catalog I switched to my website. The other settings under "Tracking"
and "Generation" are being inherited from above.
For some unknown reason Index Server automatically adds drive C: as
Directory to be indexed. The icon of this directory is marked with a blue
dot, just as the directory where my "real" website is located. As I expected,
it also returns results of files, which are outside of my website-directory.
Deleting the directory "C:" in the MMC isn't as good as I thought - I first
have to exclude C: from being indexed - it returns an error message which I
confirm - and have then the possibility to delete this directory.
Unfortunately the number of documents being shown is far to small and does
not represent the number of documents of my website. And to make the
confusion complete - everytime I restart Index Server it will add and scan
drive C: as directory again.
How can this be solved?
Thanks.
Christian
