Re: ASP cannot display webpage

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thanks for the tip! I have already disabled "Show Friendly HTTP errors" on my
browser. There is no status code, just the page saying "Internet Explorer
cannot display the webpage"
I set the IIS permission to "Scripts" only, but it's still the same.
IIS logs showed that the request is coming in.
Anyway, I used WFetch to troubleshoot and found that the error is: "0x2746
(An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.): Socket
Error On Receive".
How do I proceed from here?

Disable "Show Friendly HTTP errors" in your copy of IE, and reload the page.
Is there now a status code down the bottom of the page (like 500 Internal
Server Error?)

If you look in the IIS logfiles, is the request being logged?

Cheers
Ken

Have Windows Server 2003 standard. Enabled IIS. Under Web Service
Extensions,
Active Server Pages and ASP.NET v1.1.4322 are allowed. The IIS account has
permissions to the web site directory. Execute permissions are set to
"Scripts and Executiables".

When I try to run a simple asp page using http://localhost/test.asp, I get
the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Running html
files
is ok. Also I cannot run the IIS Administration page. Same error.

What could be wrong? Have tried reinstalling IIS but no avail
