Re: Is it possible to import a website into IIS on Windows 2008 Server

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

IIS6 and IIS7 use completely different configuration files (metabase.xml vs applicationHost.config)

There is an msdeploy (Microsoft Deployment) tool that is available for download for free from www.iis.net (the IIS team website) that can assist with migrating IIS5/6 websites -> IIS 7

We have an existing website running on IIS6 on Win2003 that we would like to
import into IIS on Windows 2008. However, I don't see an option to create a
new website from file that existed in Win2003. Hopefully I'm just missing
something...

Is there a way to import an existing website on Windows 2008?

Thanks in advance.
