Re: SSL certificate error for outlook web access

1. That would work. Get a cheap certificate rather than muck around trying
to issue your own. It's more cost effective.

2. Sure.

3. Not a good idea, you'd have to configure very client and continue to do
so as they move around on machines, and that would compromise those clients
(it's a useful error message) for other uses.

Morning,

I have outlook web access app running on Exchange 2003 (SBS 2003, IIS6).
The web app is throwing this error when browsing to:

http://domain.com/mail
--------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a
trusted certificate authority.
The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a
different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or
intercept any data you send to the server.
We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this
website.
Click here to close this webpage.
Continue to this website (not recommended).
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Clicking CONTINUE allow app to work but not over SSL (certificate error).

https://domain.com/mail
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make
sure you are connected.

Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.

Just checking the options to solve this problem:

1. install an SSL cetrificate ? (ether via an vendor like GeoTrust or
using my own certificate server) ?
2. use http only (no ssl 443) ?
3. suppress the error somehow ?

What is recommended ?

Thanks
Scott
