Hello,

If you are using local users, all users will be lost if the machine is
rebuilt. All backup software i know of backup the ACLs as well. But that
is not the problem here, the problem is when you are about to restore the
files. If you need to re-install the machine, all local user accounts are
lost, and even if you give the account the same name, it will still not be
the same account.

You should look into using Active Directory for a central administration
of user accounts.
