Hi,
I have a couple of servers, one running W2k with IIS5 and one 2003 with
IIS6. When I setup directories for websites, for security reasons I have to
explicitly grant the IUSR accounts read access so people can view the
websites on the internet. Some websites need write access and granting the
IUSR account write access to certain folders are required. My major concern
is restoration should the server break. I am backing up the servers but if I
have to restore the files to a new server all the permissions will be lost.
I cannot think of a way around this? Can anyone recommend a way to backup
the files so they can be restored with the correct permissions? Of course
installing a new server will create a new IUSR account and SID. How do other
people here backup their shared hosting environments?
Many thanks
Matt
