: I'm new to the whole IIS thing and after a couple of days of muddling
: through way too many online tutorials I'm still stuck.
:
: I am trying to set up a web server but am behind a router I have fwd
: ports 80 and 8080 to my IP and have installed No-IP cliant on my
: machine to up date mt Modems IP to http://barongringo.no-ip.info.
: However when I enter the URL in the address bar I either get my router
: settings page or a 404 file not found error even though I know it is
: there.
:
: Now the router shouldn't let me get into it from an outside connection
: as I have disabled remote admin and the dir's and virtual dir's on IIS
: and the URL are correct.

: Oh and finally when it did look like it was working downloaded files

Unless you have an internal DNS and put your external domain in it, you will
get your router configuration. Your external DNS points back to your
router, so that is what you get. That is your public IP address everyone
will see. Your router knows to route to your server, but internally, you
don't use the external address, you use an internal one.
