You don't like Microsoft's standards, you don't like Microsoft's costs
and you like the documentation in FreeBSD. Why aren't you running
FreeBSD and Apache? With MySQL, using PhP? Seriously, every
suggestion you're given you counter with how it's not comparable to
those products. You're not currently married to a platform or
development language. Why are you struggling to use one you
apparently would prefer not to?

And for development use, you don't need to go to the expense. A MSDN
subscription would be your best option, but you can use plenty of free
versions of software for development, then switch to the full
commercial products of your choice for production.
