This shouldn't be a DNS issue. You're getting to the server. DNS is so you
can use a name instead of an IP address to get to a server via whatever
protocol you're using, ftp, http, etc. It's only for resolving names to IP
addresses and vice versa.

Perhaps Jason can answer but do you have IIS Lockdown installed? If the
default document is default.asp and it searches for that first, even if it
doesn't exist, wouldn't IIS Lockdown try to block the call?
