Hi Jen,
A virtual directory is a directory located beneth the home folder of the
website when seen from IIS, but it can be located anywhere on the file
system.
So, if your home folder is D:\wwwRoot\, and you have files in C:\myFiles\
you want to make accessible, you can create a virtual directory. Then the
folder (when accessed thru a webbrowser) will be seen as if it was located
in D:\wwwRoot\myFiles\, but it is still physically located on the C:
drive.
A website is a new website, with a completely new home folder than the
previous website.
But to confuse you even more.
The home folder of a website is a IIsWebVirtualDir. So maybe this is what
they mean when they write "defined as virtual directories"?
